OK, I won't put that big advertisement for our gig at the top of every entry. I will, however, somehow work that big advertisement for our gig into the text of every entry ...

Tonight, my songwriting woes boomeranged to a fast-forward march of inspiration. The entire composition, sans finalized lyrics, materialized in my head while I was sitting at our rehearsal studio. I was nowhere near a working keyboard or synth, and I didn't wanna lose it, so I started typing nonsense lyrics into my iBook, hoping they'd help me recall the groove and melody when I finally _could_ sit down and write the chords.
Looking at those lyrics now, I can actually sing the whole thing in my head, and I'm realizing I didn't lose a thing.
And the lyrics are _really_ bad ... although there may be a few lines or themes that'll make it into the final song ...
The final song. I keep thinking that if I hurry, we'll be ready to start rehearsing it on Tuesday, and we'll eventually be able to perform it on Saturday, February 5th at 8pm at Luna Park on Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood. (admission is free, by the way) Wishful thinking, perhaps, but I don't think the tune will be that difficult to for the band to learn -- it's a pop song if anything, intentionally written to be the sort of bubble-gum fluff that often sells records these days. Of course, the whole time I was writing the tune in my head, I was thinking Beatles sing-along innocence, boy meets girl, first-crush type of stuff.
Of course, my subconscious took the Beatles thing a bit too far in one verse...
a hard day's night inside a disco hall
and i saw her standing there
wanted to say "i wanna hold your hand"
let it be my savoir faire
Now that's dummy verse, placeholder for rhythm and melody, and it won't be in the final song.
?
Then again ...
I'd definitely lose that last line though. What else rhymes with "faire." Not "despair" -- too negative. Anybody out there have a rhyming dictionary?

Makes me just wanna run to the phone right now with my coffin measurements, and then go to the nearest sushi bar and order some blowfish sashimi and hope for the best, or worst ... or whatever.

Thinking about it, death would really suck right now. Too many good things happening in life.

I hate ending entries on such a positive note, but I've really nothing left to write.
That's kind of negative in itself, isn't it?
