funk me

Too busy to write, throwing temper tantrums in the halls of Corporate America, now I'm taking an ill-advised break to do anything but deal with the general incompetence that surrounds me and threatens to invade my very core.

Honestly, it's all for the sake of my sanity.

I don't like my life, and yet I happily procrastinate doing anything to make it better. I seem content to drown my frustrations in a daily martini or two, fall asleep in my mess of a bedroom with the latest paperback from the supermarket best-seller rack, and wake up the next morning to do it all over again. Live life, bitch, moan, drink, read, repeat if desired. Abort, retry? Don't I wish. Fail? Already done.

Hopefully meeting Fritz tonight for sushi and sake at Hama ... a wonderful excuse for me to spend more money that I don't have. Should be fun.

The sun is out today for the first time this month. I wonder what this means. Rather than contemplate, I'll rest assured that the 80% chance of rain for the next two hours will set everything back to normalcy by day's end. Normalcy is rain in LA. Who would have thought it?

Reading Yahoo news today, seems the accident with my airplane the other night was due to pilot error. They came in too steep and too fast, and were warned to abort the landing, which of course they didn't, opting instead to touch down and try to refuel (with 92 octane unleaded, I guess) at the Chevron station across the street from the airport.

I can't help but wonder what that woman and child thought when a big orange and brown Boeing 737 ran a red light and crashed into their car. What does your insurance company say when a commercial jetliner totals your automobile? Not covered, I bet. I wonder if the airbags deployed...

I'm still tired from the flight delays, too busy to get untired, my new earhole is probably getting infected from lack of proper aftercare. Looks cool though. I'd post a picture like Lunesse did, but I never seem to have the camera available at the right time. Which is probably why I'll just wind up posting another boring screenshot, or an old photo, with this entry. After all, I can't leave that gig photo up forever. Speaking of which, we should have the new gig photos soon.

And speaking of the band, we booked five gigs last week. March 24 at the Roxy Theatre, one of LA's most famous venues, located right on the Sunset Strip. A week later at some social club in Wilmington, an unofficial "practice gig" of sorts. Sometime in April at a club near Disneyland in Anaheim. April 22 at the Gig on Melrose in Hollywood. Mid-May at Luna Park, the club that dissed us for our second gig, and set this whole "Groaning Mona takes LA by Storm" scenario in action.

Half-hour later - people keep on coming up and bothering me with stupid questions. I feel like a kindergarten teacher under siege, except in this case the students are larger, dumber, and less eager to learn something.

Listening to XTC ... just got an email from Fritz, he cancelled for tonight. Looks like another night of drinking alone. I wonder which will go first, my lungs or my liver ... I'd get in shape, I really would, but then I'd get all horny and get wrist damage from excessive masturbation, which in turn would stop me from playing in the band and ...

Oy. Maybe I should just go to match.com and find the future love of my life.
