----- Stopped at Albertson's (big grocery chain) on the way home from practice tonight -- picked up three cans of Campbell's Classic (read "old school," not too many chunks) soup, two packages of Jello, and a six-pack of Ensure. I'm quite prepared to feed myself through a straw for the next few days. And it's not the surgery itself that's worrying me now, it's the recovery. Everyone tells me I should be put to sleep for the procedure. Why? 45 minutes of vibration in my mouth, that I can handle. Three days of intense pain and swelling, that I'd rather not deal with. What I'd really like is for someone to put me to sleep the day _after_ the procedure, and wake me up when I'm all healed. Are there any take-home self-administered anesthesia kits? Sang my ass off at practice tonight, probably because I know my mouth will never feel the same again. The band made tooth jokes at my expense, and IceDog gave me some pot to take with me tomorrow ("just in case he'll let you smoke it beforehand") as if the oral surgeon is gonna just let me light up a joint in the chair when he's about to shoot me full of lidocaine and laughing gas. Gonna force myself to sleep now ... mental preparation for the big event, so to speak. More when it's all over... 08 june 1999: didn't write : 08 june 1998: mourning? : If the story of my evening can bring a smile to my mother's face ... well, I'll be lining up for lap dances nightly just so I can tell her about it.
