14 september 2000
sweet and kinda short

fifteen minutes of fame
but my time is nearly up
has it just begun?

I almost made it home before midnight, just barely, which makes today tomorrow, but I'm writing about yesterday. Don't let the numbers fool ya.

Rehearsal ended at 10, and I wanted to see Rachel before she left for Amsterdam, so I picked her up around 10:30 and we headed out for a late dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.

Dinner was a tad hurried out of necessity. I was a wee-bit overtired (combined with rehearsal's adrenaline rush) and wound up tripping over my tongue (and brain) one too many times throughout the evening -- couldn't seem to say the right thing, and when I did, it came out all wrong, although it didn't seem to matter in the end. What is the "right thing," anyway? Rachel was radiant; adorned only in sweats, she looked beautiful nonetheless. All in all, it was a relaxing and fun culmination to the day. Funny ... I kept catching myself thinking that Rachel should have been the one on the magazine cover...

IceDog passed out the magazines after rehearsal -- he managed to snag advance copies from the editors. It's strangely unsettling to know that this thing comes out tomorrow, all over the city, with our band plastered on the cover. As for me, the camera caught me laughing hysterically at something. I can't imagine what -- my memory of the photoshoot bleeds of discomfort and body parts numb from unnatural placement.

I could complain all night about the magazine, but, all in all, it's a great cover and incredible publicity for the band. I just hope enough people see it in time for our gig on Saturday.

(still no digital camera -- today's picture is from two years ago)

14 september 1999: : didn't write

14 september 1998: short and kinda sweet : Ah, reminder to myself ... call the landlord and get Pete the Plumber out here to fix my leaky toilet.

14 september 1997: killer shrimpy hurricane : "Skinny dipping? Aren't we a little old for that? Better yet, let me know the next time you go! Yeah, that's more like it!"
