This Year

I don't want December or holiday cheer.
No Chanukah, Christmas, or happy New Year.
No unwilling kisses beneath mistletoe
No presents or fat dude saying ho ho ho
No menorahs, those memories of maccabees tire
No latkes, or chestnuts on an open fire
I don't want to carol or play in the cold
For making snow angels I'm much much too old
No Grinch and no Scrooge and no Rudolph for me
find a heavier charm for Charlie Brown's tree
What I really do want is someone I love
Whose soul will fit mine just like a warm glove
We'll laugh and we'll cuddle, together we'll share
All of those things that I don't want this year.
